Professor Spotlight: ZACHARY CORMIER

Professor Zachary Cormier is a recent addition to the MC Law faculty. He currently teaches Civil Procedure I and is slated to teach Civil Procedure II and Constitutional Law in the spring. He also serves as Director of the Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution Center and assists the Moot Court Board.

Professor Cormier holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of New Mexico and a JD from Pepperdine University School of Law, where he first discovered his passion for constitutional law. This interest has been a constant in his career.

After law school, he practiced employment and business law before receiving an unexpected call to teach as an adjunct professor at Trinity School of Law. That role began his teaching journey, sparking his enthusiasm for guiding law students and watching them develop.

Building on his expertise in Con Law, Professor Cormier has contributed to several law review journals nationwide, focusing on key topics such as free speech and Fourth Amendment rights.

Beyond the classroom, Professor Cormier is also a fiction author. Inspired by his favorite writer, Cormac McCarthy, Professor Cormier wrote They Are Only Men, a thriller published in 2018. The novel is about a father and son who confront a dark force in the desert and explore the depths of human nature. In 2019, it won the Paranormal category in the IndieReader Discovery Awards. They Are Only Men is definitely one for your winter break reading list!

When he is not teaching or writing a successful novel, Professor Cormier enjoys spending time with his family, exploring the outdoors, and listening to music, especially the Avett Brothers. MC Law is lucky to have a professor so dedicated to the law, teaching, and creative ventures, which makes him an inspiring addition to the MC Law community.

Here is what the students themselves have to say about him:
