On February 23, 2023, Mississippi College School of Law hosted the annual Barrister’s Ball, often referred to as “law school prom.”
Every year, the school hosts this event at a local business in Jackson. This year’s venue was at the Mississippi Museum of Art! While being able to dance and socialize, students were able to walk through the art exhibits the Mississippi Museum of Art has to offer! While being at a great venue, this year’s ball also included food from Sal & Mookies, Bravo’s, and Broad Street Bakery.
LSBA Event Coordinator, Emmy Foster, had this to say about the event:
“I would just like to say that this event exceeded any expectations that I have had for Barrister's Ball. Earlier in the week I got the updated RSVP count, and it was 325 people-- my mind was blown. On Friday, I got the finalized list, and our RSVP count was sitting right at 400. I was truly in shock (and then quickly overwhelmed) with how many people were excited to attend! The Art Museum allowed for an incredible venue and there were even better vendors to work with while we were there.
Thank you to everyone that attended, to everyone that suffered through my emails, and the biggest thank you to my people who listened to me complain and stress when things didn't seem like they would work out perfectly. In the end, everything worked out better than I could've imagined. One might argue February 23 was the best date ever for an MC Law Barrister's Ball!”
Law students were able to take a break from studying and have a great evening with their classmates. As a final thought, congratulations to Mr. & Miss MC Law, Sam Kinslow, 3L and Rimaz Mustfa, 3L!
